uv radiation

UV radiation is the type of wavelength used for LASIK and PRK (UV radiation is absorbed by the cornea, which is how corneal tissue is ablated); its wavelengths are shorter than visible blue wavelengths. Excessive exposure to UV radiation from the sun can result in photokeratitis, which is essentially a sunburn of the cornea.

uvea

The area of the eye that is rich in both blood vessels and pigment. The uvea consists of the iris, ciliary body, and choroid.
